KAIYUKAN Aquarium (Osaka Aquarium)

Rakuten Travel, Inc.

KAIYUKAN Aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in the world. Its theme is partly based on the new Gaia Hypothesis advocated by Dr. James Lovelock. A Japanese word KAIYUKAN literally means “Playing in the Sea Pavilion.” In this aquarium, visitors can enjoy creatures as if they are playing together in the sea.

KAIYUKAN Aquarium

KAIYUKAN Aquarium has selected 15 regions along the Ring of Fire (Pan Pacific Volcanic Zone), and reproduced the bountiful nature and various living things mainly living in the Pacific Ocean. The capacity of 11,000 tons of water is the world’s top-class volume.
